Adventure & Experiential Education Tree Climbing Adventures

Recreational Tree Climbing provides a unique opportunity for students to learn through connecting and engaging with the natural world.

The structure of facilitated tree climbing addresses multiple learning styles to effectively engage a diverse group of learners. Our easy-to-understand directions have participants of all abilities ascending on their own within minutes.

Facilitated Tree Climbing is an enjoyable outdoor activity for all ages and allows schools to offer an adventure and experiential learning opportunity without the need to invest in gear or equipment.

During their time spent climbing and exploring the tree and heights, climbers have the opportunity to:

  • Learn through play
  • Engage with the natural world
  • Challenge themselves according to their goals, abilities and comfort level
  • Working their small & large muscles and their minds
  • Use their senses
  • Problem solve
  • Work on hand-eye coordination and motor skills

Climbing large trees using rope, saddle, and the associated climbing technique, climbers develop physically, cognitively, emotionally, and spiritually.

The perceived risk of climbing heightens participants’ awareness and focuses their attention. Whether your program is designed around physical fitness or a study of physics, the activities promote communication, cooperation, and self-confidence.

Sample activities:
-           Study gravity as climbers time the descent of falling objects
-           Study of simple machines such as the advantages of pulleys
-           Understanding of the mechanics of knots & hitches
-           Tree biology and physiology, from water uptake to oxygen release
-           Ecosystem interactions between trees and other plants and animals
-           Analytical exercises through analysis of the climbing system
-           Creative and expressive arts through journaling, reading, art, and poetry
-           Meditation and mindfulness exercises in the natural world

Class sizes can vary: Individual student to groups with multiple learners, regardless of age differences.

Whether it be a single event or a recurring program which allows them to build upon previous achievements, we work with you to create an experience your children and students will never forget!
