Tree Climbing Facilitator

Tree Climbing Facilitators enable inexperienced climbers to enjoy climbing into tall, mature trees using professional rope & harness climbing systems.

As facilitators, we inspect and prepare the tree and climbers for climbing. As a team we demonstrate the climbing technique, then work with each participant to help them do it themself!

We show them how to do it, but they do the actual climbing themselves. This is why our climbing experience has such a positive impact on their self-image and confidence. It is also what makes the role of facilitator such a rewarding experience.

We provide encouragement, guidance, and support to climbers during their time aloft. We may assist climbers as they work through various challenges and during their descent. We also keep an eye on saftey.

Through facilitating the climbing experience, you will develop your leadership & communication skills. You’ll also learn how to climb and have time to develop your own climbing skills!

Don't know how to climb yet? Most of our facilitators were new to the idea of technical tree climbing when they first joined us. Your first day on the job will have you climbing into the trees! (read about our training program below)

All of our climbs are run by tree climbing facilitators, so there are many opportunities to leave a lasting impression on each participant you work with!

The awe inspiring view and sense of accomplishment experienced when reaching the top of the tree have a lasting impact on climbers.

Participants are able to explore trees & forests and challenge themselves thanks to the guidance and support of tree climbing adventure guides.

"This is something my children will remember for the rest of their lives!" - Feedback like this resonates with me & fuels my passion for providing this amazing experience.

Facilitators prepare the tree and climbers for tree-time: a time when climbers are able to explore the beauty and magic of life above the ground.

Are you interested in becoming a facilitator, but not an experienced tree climber?

Picture
On day 1 you learn how to tie your own climbing system and ascend. As your skills progress, you learn more about maneuvering and multi-pitch climbing.
All facilitators need to be, or in the process of becoming proficient in technical tree climbing (including tree inspection, MRS climbing, equipment operation and inspection, etc).

- New employees enter our training program on your first day, beginning with the basics of technical tree climbing: what trees are appropriate for climbing, tying knots to form the climbing system, and techniques for ascending and moving around the branches with safety at the forefront.

- This is followed by our facilitation training program: understanding participant fears and learning styles, safety checks, facilitating the climbing the climbing experience, and assistance/rescue techniques.

- During training, you are working facilitated events alongside the owner, a GOTC Recognized Master Instructor & Lead Facilitator.

- During your shifts, you often have time and are encouraged to head up for personal climb time so you can develop your own climbing skills.

- By the end of your first season, you will have covered the course work introduced in our Beginning Tree Climbing and Tree Climbing Facilitation courses. At that time, you will likely have progressed to the point where you are able to successfully pass the associated skills assessments to obtain your credentials as a GOTC Recognized Facilitator, if you desire.
